Biography of Georges Rochegrosse (1859-1938)

The posters of Rochegrosse are recognized for their realistic depictions of historic moments in France, as well as mythological and biblical stories. He earned the Legion of Honor medal and various other prizes for his works. Following these honors, Rochegrosse became the house artist for the magazine La Vie Parisienne. This success enabled him to produce posters and illustrate books for contemporary authors such as Victor Hugo and Flaubert.
