This original stone lithographic poster by Clementine-Helene Dufau announces the show "The Child through the Ages" at the Petite Palace in Paris and, as the poster illustrates, it is an exhibition of drawings of children for children. Dufau, one of the few women artists designing posters at the time, championed a movement called "Art at School", a program sponsored by the French government to introduce children to art.
Printed in 1901, this large scale antique poster is complete with the top banner and is linen backed. Its soft palette underscores the effectiveness of the composition. A sophisticated design.
