Bayliss, Thomas and Company began in 1874 as one of Britain's earliest manufacturers of the Penny-farthing or high-wheeler bicycle. They sold their bicycles including the safety-bike depicted in the poster under the Excelsior and Eureka brands. In 1896 they produced England's first motorcycle and subsequently changed the company name in 1909 to the Excelsior Motor Cycle Company.
This rare poster is printed by a local printer, without color in the traditional printmaking style which serves to underscore the message that the Eureka bicycle offers an effortless ride perfect for any gentleman.
