Pierre Sylvain Lefevre
Original lithographic poster printed in colors, printed by R. Deligne, Paris, France circa 1957. Condition: Fine (B+) light folds and a few small tears, backed on linen.
Sheet size: 47 H. X 30.25 W.
This rare mid-century poster promotes the French vocal group Les Bass' Hamonistes which recorded on the Polydor label in the mid 1950's. Though the group quickly rose in popularity throughout the French speaking world, its four vocalists and sole pianist remain nameless. Their musical repertoire was exceptionally broad ranging from French pop to classical to soul.

Today we can find their recordings in the holding of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (www.bnf.fr). After listening to a few tracks, one can clearly see that Pierre Lefevre's graphic depiction captures the liveliness of the group's performance. Their harmonizations which echo French pop culture is also echoed in the poster's color palette borrowed from the Tricolore.

This is a great poster, a rare find, and one which can transform any room into something very special.
