After a fifteen year absence, Mercedes-Benz returned to racing with their now legendary Silver Arrow racing cars which culminated in their domination of the 1955 season. This victory poster in the rare large size was designed by one of the most influential late-modernist designers, Anton Stankowski and documents their wins at the Swedish Grand Prix. Especially noteworthy is the Mercedes driving team, the famed Juan Fangio and Sterling Moss, both driving the 300SRL.

Just a quick note on the graphic design: Stankowsk's posters were a radical departure from Mercedes' earlier racing posters. This poster is part of a series which was based on a single design. Each new poster is a variation on the original design. This design feature served to reinforce the recognition value and the shift towards corporate identity or branding.
