This original 1934 travel poster by the Swiss alpine painter Francois Gos promotes travel on the Montreux Oberland and Bernoise (MOB) Railroad to the charming village of Chateau d'Oex, nestled high in the Vaud Alps. The village lies on the railway's panoramic route linking Montreux on Lake Geneva to Gstaad and Zweisimmen in the Bernese Oberland. The MOB is the earliest electric, narrow gauge train in Switzerland. Gos paints the alpine range in the background a fiery red, a reference to the red rock outcroppings to the north of Chateau d'Oex. The spring flowers reinforce the message that this premier sports destination is open all year round for skiing and hiking. This poster is extremely rare.
