This rare 1934 poster featuring two rolling monoplanes announces International Aviation Meet in Paris. The event features a match between two of France's great pilots and aerobatic performers, Marcel Derot and the up-and-coming Michel Detroyat. The contest consisted of a fixed program consisting of 10 compulsory maneuvers and a 10 minute free program with each pilot operating his own plane, and then the routines were repeated again, with each pilot operating his opponent's plane.

Held on a perfect day, the event attracted a record crowd of over 150,000 spectators who watched Detroyat narrowly win with his smooth, slow performance over Doret's hard flying, hard pulling style. This event marks the beginning of aerobatic performance not just as a series of dare-devil stunts but as a combination of artistry and precision, like drawing pictures in the sky.
