This original 1938 Italian travel poster for the popular city of Verona features its stunning architecture which has evolved over its 2000 year history. Pictured in the foreground is the Arche Scaligere, the tombs of the ancient lords of Verona. On the right, is the Palazzo del Governo, the 13th century palace with its distinctive parapet. And, on the left, we see the tower of the 12th century Town Hall known as the Palazzo dell Ragione.

Verona continues to be one of northern Italy's main tourist destinations. Sought out by some as the home of Shakespeare's Juliet but for most, the city is visited for its monuments and historic buildings. In 2010, Verona became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This poster, with its crisp lines, tight focus, and stylized text aptly expresses the beauty of Verona.
