This French poster was created in 1894 to advertise Henri Ibels' one-man show at La Bodinaire. La Bodinaire, a theater for plays and shadow shows, also served as an art gallery and a place for literary talks. At the turn-of-the-century, it was a popular destination for Paris's upper class and the intelligentsia. The poster contains three vignettes which reference figures from Ibels work for Le Caf Concert and La Theatre Libre, and includes the comedy classics of Harlequin and Pierrot.
This is the original stone lithographic poster measuring 22-1/2 inches tall and one of only a handful of posters by Ibels, an important member of the Nabis.
