Jo Mora
Original color lithographic poster, printed by Jo Mora Publications, Monterey, California, USA circa 1945. Condition: Fine (B+) some tears and cracking, backed on linen.
Sheet size: 31.25 H. X 23.5 W.
Originally designed in 1933 for the Salinas Rodeo, this is without question, Mora's most successful carte, and because of its popularity, it went through several iterations and printings. This is the second edition with the map of Salinas replaced by the silhouettes of cowboys and wagons on either side of the "sweetheart of the rodeo" at the top center. You may recognize this famed rodeo figure from the Byrds 1968 Pop/Rock classic "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" album cover.
